Lorraine Molins — Biography
Lorraine Molins BA (Hons) Fine Art, ATC is a British contemporary abstract painter.
Lorraine was born and brought up in London and studied Fine Art at Chelsea School / College of Art and Goldsmiths College, University of London.
She received an Arts Council Award and was one of the original Wapping Artists. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout the UK and internationally, including exhibitions in London, Paris and Melbourne, Australia.
Lorraine worked for many years in London studios including Acava Studios in Acton and previously Space Studios in Rotherhithe. She lived and worked in London until 2021 before moving to Chichester, Sussex.
She currently works from a studio at Art Space in Portsmouth and is an active member of the artist group ARTEL, which exhibits in the Chichester area.
Additionally Lorraine teaches at the Omega Art School in Portsmouth.
Her work has been represented and exhibited by galleries and arts organisations including Noon Powell Fine Art, Gallery 286 and ARTEL.
Artistic Practice
Lorraine's abstract paintings explore colour, space, movement, landscape and atmosphere.
Her large-scale works often begin with observations of the landscape and built environment, including sky, weather, trees, roads and architecture. These references are developed intuitively through colour, line and composition.
Her practice includes large abstract paintings, vertical paintings, diptychs, triptychs, quadriptychs and works on paper.
Lorraine's paintings are held in private and public collections.
