Studio
The studio is where paintings are worked on, reconsidered and developed.
Some works evolve quickly while others are returned to repeatedly. Paint can be built up, removed, redrawn and altered until the composition reaches its final form.
For Lorraine, painting is an exploratory process. A work may begin with colour, a fragment of landscape, an architectural form, a memory or a particular sense of movement and atmosphere.
Before moving to Sussex, she worked for many years in London studios including; Acava Studios in Acton and previously at Space Studios in Rotherhithe, Wapping and Greenwich.
After moving to Chichester, Sussex, in 2021, Lorraine established her current studio practice in Portsmouth which houses a community of 30 other artists.
